The artist’s work focuses on the land and seascapes of the Suffolk coast, with particular reference to human interaction and impact. Using the physical remains of four different wars as its subject matter, the series Self-Defence (2009) suggests the changing relationship of military defences with the natural landscape as a metaphor for emotional acceptance and an inability to completely overcome wartime trauma.
